This project entailed adding a large covered porch with outdoor kitchen. The home owner’s also wanted custom build cypress louvered shutters, windows, and twin door. We even installed antique stained glass window. The screened porch incorporated 12”x12” old pine beams with tongue and groove pine ceiling. A real wood burning fireplace wrapped with old brick and pine mantle that also has built in Led HD tv. Cypress cabinets with granite tops complete the kitchen. The floor was finished with travertine installed in a Versailles pattern that extended into a courtyard with fountain build into brick wall.

Two years after we completed the house in Johnstone, the home owners ask us to come back to add a pool and a two story pool house. The first floor was to be open but screened with a bathroom / changing room, fireplace, kitchen, and large keeping room. To finish the first floor we used antique cypress walls and ceiling, brick pavers, old brick fireplace, and an old brick kitchen area with stainless appliances. The second floor was designed to be a media / game room complete with pool table, 80” flat screen TV, air conditioning, and balcony overlooking the lake. Antique bead board was used on the wainscot and stair tread risers. The exterior was combination of brick and lap siding with 12” old pine columns and a beautiful copper awning.

Outdoor Kitchen Conversion

Once the pool house was completed it was decided to convert the old outdoor kitchen on the main house into a second living room. The owner’s had purchased a antique set of french doors that we incorporated with louvered panels to create a beautiful entry into the new living room. The existing brick walls, pavers, and wood ceiling were left in place to complete a wonderful new living room.

This project started with a 20 plus year old pool that was leaking and a storage building that was badly in need of repair.  After talking with the home owners we decided to design a pool house that had all the functionality of outdoor kitchen plus entertainment area and incorporate a generous amount of storage in the rear allowing us to remove the existing storage building.  Once we consulted CPS Pools, it was determined the best course of action was to dig out the old pool and start over.  We decided to replace the old pool with an 8′ x 14′ spa that overflows into a Gunite 16′ x 36′ heated pool.  All of the needed pumps and filters for the pool were located behind the pool house out of site.

Pool House Features

Some of the design features for the pool house were: 16” old pine columns, vaulted tongue and groove wood ceiling, functional gas fireplace constructed with old brick, and brick paver floor. We wanted the trim to have a rustic look so we custom made antique pine countertops, door and window casings, shutters, ridge beam, mantle, and lintels. We incorporated a ½ bath / changing room in the pool house to help keep main house traffic to a minimum. The kitchen area is set off by antique finished cabinets with a hammered nickel farm sink. We finished out the room with HD LED tv over the fireplace and ceiling mounted speakers but installing all the necessary components in the pantry out of site.

This project started as a master bathroom and closet addition, but soon escalated to also adding a great room, remodeling the kitchen, and adding an outdoor kitchen. The closets were done with separate his and her sides each trimmed with special features. For her we have a 3 way mirror, island in center of the room, plenty of storage, and a wall size shoe rack. For him we built custom antique pine display case and gun rack, island in center trimmed in pine to match, and computer desk with TV. The closets lead to a large shower with bench seat, body jets, and double frame-less doors. The main bath area has a jacuzzi tub in the center, his and her vanities topped with granite, and a large amount of storage.

Kitchen & Great room remodel

Once it was decided to add a great room, we were able to enlarge the kitchen to almost double its original size. This allowed for a gigantic island that could accommodate the main sink, dishwasher, ice maker, and microwave drawer. New lighting and tongue and groove pine finish out ceiling. Other appliances include gas cook-top, warming drawer and a double convection oven. All counter-tops covered with granite and back splashes consisting of tumbled marble with bronze inserts.

Since the great room was to be new construction we incorporated a vaulted ceiling with tongue and groove pine and boxed pine beams and also included a fire place trimmed with old brick. The roof line was extended well past the exterior wall to provide space for the porch and outdoor kitchen. A Green Egg along with a gas cook-top was built into the antique pine outdoor island cabinet with a sink and ice maker in the wall cabinet. The exterior is trimmed with Hardie sidling, pine ceilings, and scored/stained concrete with old brick wainscoting.
